Tip and Bill Split Calculator
Calculate an optional tip and split a bill fairly, including currency rounding and exact per-person amounts.
Add an optional tip and additional tax, then divide a bill evenly with exact minor-unit allocation.
Result
Tip is calculated on the bill field, not added tax. Do not enter tax twice if the bill is already tax-inclusive. 1 person(s) pay one extra currency minor unit so shares sum exactly to the rounded total. Currency selection changes display and rounding; it does not convert money or infer local tipping customs.

How to use this calculator
Add an optional tip and additional tax, then divide a bill evenly with exact minor-unit allocation. Enter amounts in the units shown, select the applicable options, and click Calculate. Use Reset to restore the starting values.
Calculation formula
Total = bill + additional tax + tip on bill. Divide the rounded total into currency minor units and allocate any remainder one unit at a time.
Assumptions and accuracy
Check the selected mode, units, date endpoints and result notes. Currency selection controls display and rounding, not exchange rates. Calendar calculations do not include holidays or local time-of-day.
Choose what to calculate
Tip calculator split bill including tax
Calculate a tip and split a bill across people with entered tax and currency. Cent remainders are allocated so individual shares sum to the full bill.
Open this calculationUnderstanding this calculation
Calculate an optional tip, add any tax not already included and divide the bill fairly. The per-person schedule distributes the remaining minor units rather than asking everyone to pay the same rounded amount.
Worked examples
Split a 115 dollar total among three people
Use the explicitly stated inputs; the example link fills them in.
- Tip = 100 × 15% = 15; total = 115.
- 11,500 cents / 3 gives 3,833 cents each with one cent left.
- The allocated shares are 38.34, 38.33 and 38.33.
The total is USD 115.00 and all three shares sum exactly to it.
Try these inputsCommon questions
Does the bill split add tax twice?
Only if you enter an already tax-inclusive bill and also add the same tax in the additional-tax field. Leave additional tax at zero when it is included.
Why can two people pay slightly different amounts?
A rounded total is not always divisible evenly into minor currency units. The first people in the schedule receive one extra minor unit until the remainder is allocated.
Scope and assumptions
Currency selection controls symbols and minor-unit rounding, not exchange rates. A tip is optional and local customs vary. The tip base is the bill field, excluding additional tax. Up to 1,000 people are supported.
