How to use this calculator

Calculate a loan payment and cash-flow APR including fees and insurance. Enter amounts in the units shown, select the applicable options, and click Calculate. Use Reset to restore the starting values.

Calculation formula

APR solves net proceeds against all periodic loan payments and insurance charges.

Assumptions and accuracy

Review timing, rates, fees and result notes when comparing scenarios. Future returns and rates are assumptions rather than guaranteed outcomes. Monetary display follows the currency’s precision; intermediate calculations retain additional digits.

Personal loan calculator with origination fee

Estimate personal-loan payments and fee-adjusted borrowing cost. Upfront fees and financed costs can affect cash received differently.

Understanding this calculation

Compare personal-loan installments with net proceeds after origination and other charges. A fixed stated rate does not capture every cost of borrowing.

Worked examples

A personal loan with no fees or interest

Illustrative inputs are specified in the steps below; the example link loads the complete settings. Unmentioned settings use the linked defaults.

  1. 12,000 divided into twelve monthly installments gives 1,000. The example assumes no origination, documentation, insurance or other fees.

Payment per period: 1,000 USD.

Try these inputs

Monthly repayment with a 12% nominal annual rate

Principal 12,000 USD; 12 monthly payments; 12% nominal annual rate with monthly compounding. Fees and taxes are zero in this scenario.

  1. Monthly rate = 12% / 12 = 1%.
  2. Payment = 12000 × 0.01 / (1 − 1.01^(−12)).
  3. Check both the installment and the schedule; the final installment may be limited to the remaining balance.

Payment per period: 1066.19 USD.

Common questions

How does an origination fee affect a personal loan?

It can reduce proceeds or increase financed principal depending on treatment, raising the effective borrowing cost.

Is a 0% loan necessarily cost-free?

Only if there are no fees or other required charges. A zero stated rate alone does not prove a zero APR.

Scope and assumptions

This is a fixed-installment illustration. Credit approval, variable-rate terms and unentered penalties are outside the model.
