Calculation formula
Commission = sales × rate / 100.
Assumptions and accuracy
Review timing, rates, fees and result notes when comparing scenarios. Future returns and rates are assumptions rather than guaranteed outcomes. Monetary display follows the currency’s precision; intermediate calculations retain additional digits.

Tiered sales commission calculator with base salary
Calculate commissions using progressive bands, a whole-sales rate or per-item amounts. Base pay must cover the same period as the entered sales.
Open this calculationUnderstanding this calculation
Calculate flat-rate commission, solve for sales or rate, or model tiered compensation. Progressive bands and a single rate on all sales are different arrangements.

Illustrative inputs are specified in the steps below; the example link loads the complete settings. Unmentioned settings use the linked defaults.

Sales amount $1,000 and commission $75; leave the rate blank.
- Rate = commission / sales × 100.
- 75 / 1000 × 100 = 7.5%.
The commission rate is 7.5%.
Try these inputsCommon questions
How does progressive sales commission work?
Each band rate applies only to sales within that band, with any entered base added separately.
Is commission the same as take-home pay?
No. The gross commission result does not deduct payroll taxes, benefit deductions or other adjustments.
Scope and assumptions
The model does not infer returns, clawbacks, tax withholding or employment-contract rules. Enter eligible sales and the correct tier method.
